Introducing HorseJobsOnline.com

Introducing HorseJobsOnline.com
By Kathryn Brim, Editor

I will never forget the look on my mom’s face the first time I told her I wanted to go to college for an Equine Science degree. “A degree in horses! That exists?” she said. “What kind of job can you do with that?”

“Anything”, I told her. And that is just the beginning! It’s funny, because even now when I tell people that I have my bachelors in Equine Science, they still ask that first inevitable question: “What can you do with that degree? Are you a vet?” I usually laugh out loud at the thought of me not only making it in to vet school, but surviving the intense and rigorous education thereafter. No thank you!

But, the reality of the inevitable “What can you do with that degree” question still rings true. What can you do in the equine industry that actually pays the bills? This is actually a question that is a reality for thousands of horse enthusiasts. The mentality usually falls somewhere between “I’ll muck stalls, live in the barn and work my way up to management”, or “get my finance degree and work in a high-paying job that can fund my expensive horse habit.” So which one is it?

In my opinion, there really is no “best way” to involve yourself in the equine industry. Whether you want to participate solely from the recreational standpoint, or make your living in it, the horse world is endless. But, if you do want to become a professional in the industry, where do you start?

The creators of HorseShowPatterns.com, a very successful equine-based website with customers in all fifty states and 12 foreign countries, have developed a solution to this problem. "HorseJobsOnline.com was created to connect the horse industry.  Finally when people ask "where do I go to find a horse job" or an employer asks "where do I go to find and hire help for my growing horse business", there's a good answer....HorseJobsOnline.com," says the website’s creator, Dr. David Denniston. Denniston, a professor and judging coach at Colorado State University, recognized the need for such a resource first hand. “HorseJobsOnline.com came about because we have students all the time that come into our offices and ask "where do we go to find a horse job?"  We have never had a very good answer for them, and our methods of posting jobs have been somewhat archaic.  We also have people call all the time looking for student help / internships / horse jobs, and we don't keep a list of students actively looking for horse jobs.  So, HorseJobsOnline.com was developed to fill a need and help the horse industry connect those looking for work with those needing help.”

So far, it seems to be working. HorseJobsOnline.com has already attracted numerous professional equine-focused corporations as registered employers, including the National Western Stock Show, Arabian Horse Association and American Paint Horse Association. Along with a prestigious list of employers, the site also boasts some unique and creative features. Built exclusively for the horse industry, HorseJobsOnline.com is one of the only sites entirely dedicated to equine-focused jobs. Furthermore, all aspects of the job hunting process can be completed directly through the site. Users can post their resume, apply for jobs online and send resumes and cover letters all through HorseJobsOnline.com, making it quick and easy to communicate with potential employers.  Employers can also efficiently review received applications, view applicants’ resumes and store information for later use without ever leaving the site.

"I believe HorseJobsOnline.com is going to quickly become the most popular website in the horse industry,” says Dr. Denniston. “There is finally a site that is designed specifically for the horse industry with the sole purpose of connecting people. Best of all, it's FREE for those looking for a horse job and incredibly affordable for those employers looking for help."

Now those of us with a passion for the industry can find ways to make that dream a professional reality – and prove to others that we aren’t just wasting our time. Check out HorseJobsOnline.com today to explore the possibilities!
