Equine Rescues Invited to Seminar Facilitated by Kentucky Horse Council

Lexington, KY – A networking session for Kentucky equine rescue groups is scheduled for September 27, 2008 from 1-4 p.m. in Lexington. This is the second such meeting facilitated by the Kentucky Horse Council in an effort to support the needs of horse rescue groups throughout the state.

The group first met in March 2008 primarily to network and identify key areas where support was needed. A direct result of the initial meeting was the John Henry Memorial Adoption Fair at which Kentucky equine rescues were able to showcase adoptable horses.

Milt Toby, Attorney and Director of Equine Studies at Midway College will present information on becoming a non-profit organization at the upcoming session. Additionally Cindy Rullman who works in marketing and public relations at the Kentucky Horse Park will provide training on maximizing marketing opportunities.

“Equine rescues are of vital importance to at risk horses in Kentucky,” remarked Madelyn Millard, President of the Kentucky Horse Council. “We strive to support their mission by encouraging networking, resource sharing, and responsible horse stewardship.”

The meeting will conclude with a discussion of the AAEP Guidelines for Equine Rescue and Retirement Facilities.

All Kentucky equine rescue organizations are invited to attend the 3 hour meeting at 1500 Bull Lea Rd, Lexington, Kentucky. For more information or to reserve a seat at the Equine Rescue Seminar, contact the Kentucky Horse Council at 859-367-0509 or email erogers@kentuckyhorse.org, or visit www.kentuckyhorse.org.
