New Zealand Morgan Horse Association Going On 22 Years

New Zealand Morgan Horse Association Going On 22 Years

Shelburne , VT -- The American Morgan Horse Association (AMHA) is pleased to highlight the New Zealand Morgan Horse Association (NZMHA) for 22 years of spreading Morgan horse enthusiasm throughout New Zealand. With a focus on incorporating Morgan enthusiasts from all backgrounds, the NZMHA offers members all over the country opportunities for education, competition, and most importantly, fun.

Founded in 1986, the NZMHA records Morgans who are DNA tested in New Zealand and are registered with the AMHA. The club currently has approximately 86 Morgans on its registry as well as 240 part-breds. The club offers its services and support to roughly 63 members.

Peter Cameron, club president and Morgan enthusiast, reports that the club not only enjoys bringing Morgan pride to both the North and South islands, but has also hosted five AMHA Youth winners: Wade Turney 1992, Erin Collins 1995, Michelle Krull 1998, Kelly McWha 2001, and Kerry Shanley 2006.

Though the island is approximately 32 hours from AMHA's home offices, NZMHA is no stranger to offering top notch yearly competitions and events such as the annual National Show. Guest judges for the Morgan division of the All Breed Show have included Mary Wolverton, Ellie Mason, Nancy Eidam, Jill Yerger, Cliff Swanson, and Joyce Swanson.

The NZMHA welcomes new members, curious folks, and all questions and comments. For more information on the club including how to become a member or how to make a donation, go to www.morganhorse.org.nz.

Founded in 1909, the American Morgan Horse Association is a non-profit organization serving more than 50,000 Morgan horse owners, breeders, exhibitors, and enthusiasts throughout the United States. AMHA serves as a parent organization to more than 90 recognized Morgan horse clubs and national service organizations.
