NTRA To Host Equine Tax Seminar At Saratoga

NTRA To Host Equine Tax Seminar At Saratoga

The National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA) will host a free equine tax seminar at Fasig-Tipton Co.'s Humphrey S. Finney Sales Pavilion in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. on Wednesday, August 6 from 9:00-11:00 a.m.. The seminar will be hosted by Thomas A. (Tad) Davis, a partner in the Washington, D.C., law firm Davis & Harman, LLP, and author of numerous guides on tax matters affecting horse owners, including "Tax Tips for Horse Owners" and "Horse Owners and Breeders Tax Handbook."

The seminar will begin with a presentation by Davis, followed by a Q&A session. Topics include the tax law benefits of the recently passed Economic Stimulus Act and Equine Equity Act.

"We encourage current and prospective horse owners, consignors and sellers to take this opportunity to learn about changes to the Federal tax code that can positively impact their business," said Peggy Hendershot, NTRA senior vice president of legislative affairs. "An increase in the expensing allowance for 2008 and changes to the depreciation schedule for racehorses beginning in 2009 are just two examples of important issues that industry stakeholders should be aware of for tax planning this year."

To reserve your spot at August's seminar, contact Joe Bacigalupo of the NTRA by phone at 1-800-792-6872, ext. 677, or via email at joeb@ntra.com

The NTRA is a broad-based coalition of horse racing interests consisting of leading thoroughbred racetracks, owners, breeders, trainers and affiliated horse racing associations, charged with increasing the popularity of horse racing and improving economic conditions for industry participants. The NTRA has offices in Lexington, Ky., and New York City. NTRA press releases appear on the NTRA web site, NTRA.com.
