Fans Of Barbaro Plan Second Annual ‘Celebration Of Barbaro’

Delaware Park, DE - Fans of Barbaro, (“FOB”), will be hosting their annual ‘Celebration of Barbaro’ at Delaware Park the weekend of July 12-13.  Events include a Cajun/Jazz Festival in Kennett Square, PA at 7:30 p.m. on Friday July 11, a day at Fair Hill Training Center and a picnic at Fair Hill Stables in MD, followed by a fund raiser at Timothy’s of Newark DE, 7-10 p.m. on Saturday July 12, and a reservations-required BBQ in the Grove at Delaware Park, Noon-6 p.m. on Sunday, July 13, followed by the showing of the Hennegan Brothers movie, “The First Saturday in May”, on the big screen in the infield of Delaware Park at the conclusion of racing.

We are proud to welcome Jean Cruguet (Triple Crown Winner, Seattle Slew, 1977) to our fund raiser and Celebration.  He will be available for autographs and photos on July 12th at Timothy’s and July 13th in the tent in the Grove at Delaware Park.  Other invited guests include Roy and Gretchen Jackson, Michael Matz, Eduardo Hernandez, Edgar Prado, John Hennegan, Kent Desormeaux, Rick Porter, Larry Jones, John Holland, the staff at New Bolton Equine Hospital and board members of Thoroughbred Charities of America.

All proceeds benefit Thoroughbred Charities of America, (“TCA”), and it is hoped to surpass last year’s ‘Celebration of Barbaro’ proceeds of over $20,000 for Thoroughbred rescue and laminitis research, in the name of Barbaro.  This year there will also be a special tribute to Eight Belles with those proceeds going to the TCA’s Eight Belles Memorial Fund for rescue and research into catastrophic breakdowns.

“The impact Barbaro’s triumph and ultimate passing had on his fan’s lives cannot be underestimated.” said Sharon Crumb, the Founder of the ‘Celebration of Barbaro’.  She continued, “What we hope to achieve this second year is to continue the work with track safety and Thoroughbred rescue.”

For ticket information and attendance please contact Sharon Crumb at 908-859-5771 or e-mail: Sharonsfun21@yahoo.com For information regarding Jean Cruguet, please e-mail Sam Finelli at SAFMarket@aol.com or call 740-972-4546.
