AQHA’s Stephanie McCommon Joins ELCR Board Of Directors

AQHA’s Stephanie McCommon Joins ELCR Board Of Directors

America’s Horse - Equestrian Land Conservation Resources welcomed three new members to the board of directors at its annual meeting. The new members are Stephanie McCommon of the American Quarter Horse Association, Dan Rosenberg of Rosenberg Thoroughbred Consulting and Patsy Mattingley, a leadership volunteer for the U.S. Pony Club.

McCommon of Amarillo, Texas, is the manager of membership services for AQHA. Her responsibilities include working with AQHA Affiliates, managing the Recreational Riding Program and overseeing the Stewards for Trails, Education and Partnerships (STEP) program. AQHA’s Ride program has grown to average 100 worldwide rides annually. STEP encourages stewardship and conservation of horseback riding trails by equestrians. Additionally, Stephanie has worked with Palo Duro Canyon State Park to secure a $100,000 grant to fund new equestrian trails and establish handicapped-accessible access to trails. McCommon is a graduate of West Texas A&M University and holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

“Stephanie’s enthusiasm for our work and extensive experience at AQHA make her a great source of wisdom and knowledge for ELCR,” Deb Balliet, ELCR’s chief executive officer, said. “We have worked closely with Stephanie for a number of years and are delighted to have her on the board of directors.”

Prior to starting Rosenberg Thoroughbred Consulting, Rosenberg served as president and CEO of Three Chimneys Farm, a prominent Thoroughbred breeding facility. He was with Three Chimneys for 30 years, serving as general manager before being appointed president.

Mattingley fell in love with equestrian life when she began riding at 7. She became involved with the U.S. Pony Club through her then 13-year-old daughter, Jenny. Within three years, Mattingley was a district commissioner for the organization in Texas. Since then, she has organized meetings and festivals for the Pony Club, served on the board of governors and chaired the governance and development committees.

ELCR, the only national not-for-profit organization assisting in the conservation of land for horses and horse-related activity, serves as a clearinghouse and educational resource for land and horse owners on issues related to good land stewardship, conserving land, and preserving horse access on public and private lands.
