TWHBEA^SM Newest Member Of The Equestrian Land Conservation Resource

The Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders’ and Exhibitors’ Association^SM (TWHBEA^SM), is excited to announce its new membership in the Equestrian Partnership Program of the Equestrian Land Conservation Resource.  ELCR is a non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation of land for equestrian activity.

Loss of open land has been identified as the greatest threat to the future of all equestrian sport, recreation, and industry. By educating horse people and encouraging partnerships with conservationists and other user groups at the local level, the Equestrian Land Conservation Resource is mobilizing thousands of equestrians to work for land access and protection in their communities. We recognize that without such concerted efforts, the equestrian world as we know it is at great risk.

ELCR

ELCR educates horse people about the crisis and brings them together with conservationists to stem this serious loss. Their many programs include:

Coordinating and working with riding groups, such as the Friends of Callithea Farm in Maryland, to form nonprofit organizations to purchase and save their riding areas.

Assisting landowners to work with land trusts to create easements that will protect land for horse use.

Partnering with such groups as USEA, AQHA, USPC, MFHA, as well as state horse councils, fox hunters, breed organizations, trail riders, and discipline organizations to save their riding places.

Serving as a clearinghouse for information about land and access protection.

TWHBEA^SM is very excited about this new membership and plans to become active within ELCR, encouraging equestrian activities within the framework of the National Park Service Partnership Agreement.

The Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders' and Exhibitors' Association^SM, headquartered in Lewisburg, Tennessee, is the oldest and most prestigious organization devoted to the promotion and protection of the breed. Founded in 1935, the breed registry was established to record the pedigrees of the Tennessee Walking Horse. Its goal is to maintain the purity of the breed, to promote greater awareness of the Tennessee Walking Horse and its qualities, to encourage expansion of the breed and to help assure its general welfare.
