Forrest Ernst Passes; A Farrier Second To None

Lexington, Kentucky - Forrest “Ernie” Ernst passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2008, at age 93. The Louisville native was the proud owner of Ernst Farriers and was inducted into the International Horseshoeing Hall of Fame in 1992. He was also the official farrier for the World's Championship Horse Show in Louisville from 1945 to 1978.

Ernie was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 69 years Wilhelmina "Willie" Ernst; his parents Edward and Clara Ernst; a grandson Phillip Joseph Ernst; and a great-grandson Joshua Phillip Ernst. He is survived by two sons, Edward Phillip (Alice Lee) and Forrest Jude (Helen); a daughter, Mary Trevera Winter (Gregory); 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and one brother, Jacob D. "Jack" Ernst.

Memorial donations may be made to the Mass of the Air or to the Michael Quinlan Brain Tumor Foundation.
